Let the pictures paint a thousand words!

February 27, 2006

Last night i was in the 2nd arts&music festival again for it’s final day.It was around 12pm when i got there(too much sleep!lol) and began to look around the premises.MTV is airing the event,i saw the organizer but didnt have the guts to talk to him,had my lunch there courtesy of amara catering(haha),went to the current 3d animation workshop, peeked again at wawi navarroza’s photography booth(i love your B&W’s!),browsed the pinikpikan, uyayi& british council booths to see thier cds on sale(need more money to buy the 3 cds uyayi, mon david and pinikpikan.but your on my list!).At about 3 pm i positioned myself at the front together with some photographers also.lol.Dance numbers were presented, singing numbers were given by special guests chin-chin gutierrez and piolo pascual(though sorry,i did not take even a single shot of piolo because he doesnt need it anymore!haha) for the down syndrome association of the philippines which is the beneficiary of the 3 day event..Finally,bands of different genres played.First off,Mon David with his great band played some bossa/jazz tunes then a lot followed like humble sauce,Kwjan(love the new sound),18th issue(jimbo, lakas pumalo!!) till pinikpikan for a finale! A great one indeed, not just the music but as a whole event, truly its a feast of mind and the senses! Thanks a lot backdoor ventures for bringing up this event,it speaks success for itself. So great job guys, exhibitors, organizers and performers and us audiences.haha… I do not have an expressive way of writing though below, are photos that i took,i hope you’ll like it.Let the pictures paint a thousand words.haha..

Oh..oh..oh..Oly…(Give me a dlsr,from the heavens above!)

February 17, 2006

Valentines day, gone out with my camera and went to the last day of photoworld 2006(3rd time) again, watched some speakers on thier tips in photography and post processing as well.I Bought some filters(on sale,to experiment on my camera).I treated myself on a lunch at greenbelt..lol..Quirky eh,but i enjoyed a lot!

Some shots i took:

The Next morning,I went to ayala museum for a olympus seminar/intro to thier E-System DSlrs.Luckily, there are also phipho members(sir photojazz and sir theregent) waiting at the entrance when i got there.A few minutes later another phipho member came(sir rave)..About past 9am,we were told to go up the museum for the start of the seminar..I was suprised to see two masters of photography here in our country,Lito Beltran with his wife and son and Vic Sison attending a seminar.lol..Well they were nice, even letting me to sign first on the registration though im behind them..At the room minutes before the program started, another phipho member came(sir ryanfelipe with a friend) and sat right next to me as we waited for the program to begin..

The Seminar Begins…

Mr. Tanaka(Olympus Asia) –Introduced the features and advantages of their Dlsrs, like the 4/3 system(four thirds system)and dust protection system(which is done through a SSWF-supersonic wave filter so wouldnt have to worry if dust gets when changing your lenses). These Features made me change my mind!lol.Truly, olympus is more focused to perfect the digital format, not just competition..They also have the open standard,in which kodak, fujifilm, sanyo, panasonic and sigma supports thier CCD and lens technology.

An executive of axis global(olympus distributor here) is there also to tackle a great aftersales costumer service.I think,it is a first here, even canon hasnt done that. The service they are offering to E system DLSR users,is that when the camera is having some problems/malfunctions,they would have a door-door service, replace your Camera with a same unit while repairing your own one.All for 200 bucks! Great..

After that, international photojournalist Jeffrey Aaronson(NewsWeek,Time,National Geographic,Travel&Leisure,Rolling Stone etc.) Shared and tackled a slice of his accumulated photos(he showed 80 of his 350,000 lol).It was a long slideshow and discussion though i learned  a lot from his explanations..

About this photo:I really dimmed the exposure compensation here though it was really dim..I want only to capture the apple logo on sir aaronson’s laptop and what he’s explaining through the projector(now its an explanation of a photo!) hahaha.

This is what really the eye can see..

Questions were entertained right after sir Jeffrey Aaronson presented and discussed his photos..Few models also were called to present and let us try the E Slrs..haha..

Whats on his left hand??…haha…. Sir Aaronson answering a question..

Oh great..an E 500 slr..

The Slr is great,So are you! hahaha

Can i have that Dslr and you?! : )

Now,Im much convinced with Olympus’ E system DSLRs and i will get one if my budget permits it(ASAP!)haha.Oh..oh..oh..Oly…(Give me a dlsr, from the heavens above!).haha.But for now,im still learning the art of photography so my present camera is good for me,it has a variety of manual controls and a great lens..To the phipho members i met,Nice meeting you sirs..Happy shooting!hahaha..Till next time.. : )

By the way,i took some shots at after the seminar..Hope you’ll like it.

Just trying the star filter here..result is the star like shines..though overall the picture is soft.

Been a while

February 12, 2006

Its been a while! im that busy these days just not in the mood to update my entries..haha..So…

I went to photoworld 2006 at ayala center,i was there only too try dlsrs and watch the free seminars..Been to the canon, nikon and the other booths and inquired the prices of my wishlist of cams though after a while.Luckily i aquired a prosumer camera(luckily!)…haha..Ive been testing it up to know, every increments of its options and settings..I will also update my gallery by this month though some of my samples are viewable now at my gallery “viscotchoh”..

Last night we(jon, floyd and i)watched fuseboxx for the first time this year..The new members were introduced by abby..Welcome sir Jessy and Lester!(I hope we could talk to them in the coming meetings) About the songs,it was kind of heavier..The songs were modified but for me its better adding some new flavors to thier songs..haha…We also planned to have a meeting there with my fellow colony members, but it did not push thru..but sir eric said we would meet sometime this month(required because march is coming)he would announced new plans and etc…so it is much better if we are many there lat night..

I’ll post some pics later..ill sleep first! haha

Bond and Bonds.

February 6, 2006

The 21st Bond movie started filming this february in Prague with the new agent 007,Daniel Craig(which is the star of one of my favorite movies, layer cake.)..Directing is the veteran Martin Campbell(Goldeneye,Mask of Zorro,Vertical Limit are some of his works)..The movie will be entitled as ” Casino Royale” which is adapted from Ian Flemming’s same titled novel.Hmm..This should be interesting,a new 007(a much tougher looking one) and a comeback director for another bond film..Im expecting this should be released by november this year or early next year..It should also mean another hit MTV/song for a lucky music artist who will make the theme song of this upcoming film.haha

Some pics:

The classic look.. Daniel Craig as 007.

First day of shooting(photo from Associated Foriegn Press)

Oh…I have’nt recently updating my blog because im kind of busy or lazy..haha..A few days ago,my friends and i watched “Brokeback Mountain”(it was the 2nd time for me to watch the film)..Thier reaction.not that really positive.haha.They are stating that “iba pala pag seryoso” haha..We are fond of joking/doing the “gay-ish” things when we have nothing to do(but just for laughs,we even have archives of videos!haha)…But on the serious side,It was a very good film..controversial,moving and real for me…The kind of movie that will open our eyes on realities, that the subject of the story is really happening and could happen to anybody. So let’s be aware! Love is a force of nature!haha ..My friends reactions just confirmed that the actors and plot did very good job to immerse the viewer in that kind of story..The soundtrack is also great(i recently owned one,and currently listening to it).I do hope this film will win many awards in the upcoming oscars just like it did in the globes..I’ll guess it would clinch the Best director, best adapted screenplay, cinematography and probably best actor awards..Furthermore,the movie is currently on the box office tops again(in 3rd quarter of 2005,it was limitedly released) with a current worldwide earning of $86 million dollars(a very good turnout for a film which cost just $14m to make)..Expect it to rise as much as $150m-200m after the results of the academy awards and a worldwide release..

The band recently practiced for the preparations of the recording by this month in a professional studio(yeah, ill do the mixing and arrangements!) and at last a possible EP!

On the other hand,we are planning to have a getaway this weekend again. We are going to fish on a mountain by two’s..Hahaha..Joke..Actually we are planning to go again to the beach and enjoy.Have some quality bonds..LOL.. We have much to do there,so ill update you on this..
