From where i stand..

March 30, 2006

“We live everything as it comes, without warning, like an actor going on cold. And what can life be worth if the first rehearsal for life is life itself? That is why life is always a sketch. No sketch is not quite the right word, because a sketch is an outline of something, the groundwork for a picture, whereas the sketch that is our life is a sketch of nothing, an outline with no picture.” - Milan Kundera-

Where i am now?..Pretty much the same as before though my outlook have been significantly changed by some events that i experienced last year, chosed not to be in the system of our society and i’m happy with it because i have the freedom..We are all in a system indeed, but it is much better if you can override it right?haha. If you analyzed the matrix trilogy, this is one of the deepest essences and meaning embedded on the films plus the selfless love thing.Very hard to do,but it’s a satisfying journey even you cant make to the finish.

Where my path could lead me?
..an unpredictable one..all i know it will calculated summation of what i am doing now and done before and if im lucky enough i might know the right formula to have a right summation. Now,because im a wandering soul who wondered from left to right, pointed to the east and west, walked from north to south i may not know right formula yet that will keep my path in a uniform line and ultimately leading to a good end.But each time i wonder, stumble and fall,im picking up myself together with the tiny bits of moments and keep it on my pocket of memories so the next time i wonder around in my wandering path i can use every bit of it as a reference of what to do and what not to do again.

To others, life is not like it seems.Society dictated that you live life as you are pre-programmed to do so.This results to the indifference of  society. They only tend to look but often cant see,and without even realizing that every person has a different personality, approach and thinking..To me,life is a great journey and it is the search for your sole purpose in this world. My life i may say,is like a coloring book with illustrations and sketched dreams/goals of mine. Some are colored(the ones who have shared thier lives with me at some point in time),some are erased but you can still see what its like(the bad things that happened to me),and some that havent been touched, just the illustration and the white paper background..These ones are the most important parts because to me there is no color for simplicity and serenity of those moments with someone and you two doing nothing at all.Im longing for that feeling again(and i believe everybody is and we tend to search for that),but for me not too soon…not too soon..In the meantime,i just would like to live my life, share moments with others and help them in any way i could possibly can.(ala Amelie! with the twist of JM.) lol

These are my views from where i stand.

Note:-im not a math lover.just love the terminologies of it..lol

I like it hard.

One of my idols in music has a new anthology album(2cds and features reworked iggy pop classics)coupled with the recent release of his book called “the complete iggy pop” by Richard Adams. There will also be some remastered release of his albums(including the time with the stooges) plus some previous unreleased recordings with david bowie in berlin&rest of europe!.For those who doesnt know iggy pop,he is simply the “godfather of punk” started in the late 60s and oh if i may correct a thing, its not the definition of punk now,it’s the definition of punk before(just simple hard hitting tunes with real show offs and stunts!).No one has ever been close to the performance of iggy pop until now(ill hit you hard on this wannabe frustrated punks and punk bands!).Hmmm..Adding the book & cd on my wish list!!LOL.

One of the included films in the recently concluded sundance is “Hard Candy” A drama/thriller concerning online chatting..haha..It is a great one..The preview which ive seen last year was amazing and reminds me of “one hour photo”…I hope this movie will be released here sometime this summer..If not,ill go for a dvd..haha..The movies in our country is limited to those who can give big bucks to cinemas..lol..what a shame.

Some stills from hard candy:

Technologic

March 10, 2006

Some news in the ongoing CEbit convension at Hanover,Germany…

The desktop killers are here!Asus,Samsung,Founder group with intel and microsoft are the pioneers of the UMPCs(ultra mobile pc)..These ultra-mobile pcs initially features:1-inch mini-tablet with a 7-inch touchscreen LCD, Celeron M ULV processor, 40GB drive, 512MB RAM, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and DMB options (of course), and Windows XP Tablet edition with Touch Pack.Yes it is touchscreen all around mobile gadget with an ample 3 hour battery life per charge…Hmmm..I wonder, would apple make a ultra mobile like this?haha..

First pics of the concept umpcs..good news is that it will only sell for less than $1000 said the intel executives!

Another(which is suprising for me),A 10 megapixel camera phone from samsung and a 8gb embedded musicphone also from the korean company..Wow!This will be a big kaboom/kablam for nokia..lol.. Samsung is manufacturing mobile products much advanced than thier competitors,i remembered them releasing a 7mp cameraphone in 2004 and last year an 8mp one..These phones are not so widely available though because i beleive it isnt going to be mass produced for the moment..but maybe 3-4 years from now, when the other mobile companies upped the megapixel ante of thier phones(currently there is a 3.2mp cybershot cameraphone from sonyericsson) then they will be mass producing it at a competitive price..By that time, real digicams have 20mp of resolution with bigger lcds and a top of the line dslr would reach at 50mp(right now 39mp hasselblad h2d-39 is the king of megapixel and quality)..lol.

But that was just technologic my guesses…haha..technologic…Buy it,use it,break it,fix it,trash-it,change-it,melt-upgrade-it,charge-it,pawn-it,zoom-it,press-it,snap-it,work-it,

quick-erase it…lol

Some publicity pics of the two new samsung mobile’s arsenal.

Another day!

March 7, 2006

I went to ortigas earlier and it was scorching hot. That’s what you call summer breeze!haha..upon getting on the ortigas station i went to 711 first to pick up a drink and continued to strata building where i paid for my domain(quarterly) and webspace..Time was about 1030 am when i finished the transaction there and walked again to megamall, did some canvassing of the cameras i want(hopefully i can really pick one up this first half of the year!).. Im also thinking of watching a movie there, but decided not to because the movie i was supposed to watch is scheduled at 130pm for the first screening..So i strolled around Lil’s hobby shop(inquired about an r/c kit and a pistol grip radio with the owner)..Why? Last week, when i saw the RC track again at the qc circle and did some chat with the rc hobbyists there which are members of the qcrccc club, the rc thing in my memory bank has been turned on once again!! hahaha..But ill do it slowly(current hobby first),and i may comeback to rc by this year if i have a lot of 3 faced bills…Though im thinking ill help them(thier rc club) put a thing up to boost thier online activity.I hope they will agree on this one!

Back to the mall,it was about lunchtime when i finished scouting things that im interested of and had my meal at kaya restaurant..Im done, and did go to powerbooks to buy some current magazines and scout again for books.Jonathan Safran Foer’s hardbound novels was there( i would like to have his “extremly loud and icredibly close” book) but the prices was unfriendly, maybe sometime ill buy it when it goes to the 20% sale..hahaha.By the way,the dvd of everything is illuminated is out on region 3 dvd!A suprise to me..Last time i saw it it was priced at php575..Ill buy a copy by this coming weekend..

Another day….

So after purchasing the magazines,I went to the mrt station and went back home..haha..another day for me,a simple but an interesting one..When i was on the train,I took some shots..See them below..I also have shots in emerald ave…just playing around with my ideas..hehe…Hope you’ll like them!

And the oscar goes to…

March 6, 2006

Whew..a e few surpises at the oscars!..Crash snatched the best picture that is supposed to go to brokeback mountain(wow,impressive..the academy is preventing controversial films to be very more controversial..haha)Everybody is saying it was the biggest upset in this year’s event. In the other category,a hip hop song about pimps won an oscar for best original song(not that i dont like that kind of music,it isnt that just musically great because it is composed of just beats and low sub sounds and samples..haha.though the lyrics and voice compensates for that).

Brokeback mountain’s score by Gustavo Santaolalla won the oscar for original score(i own a cd of the soundtrack and its a great emotional one, though i thought john williams would win).Santaolalla said:

“Thank you so much, members of the Academy. I’m so proud to have work in this movie “Brokeback Mountain.” A movie that once again showed us that love is what makes us all very similar, in spite that we can be so different.”

Legendary director Robert Altman receives the honorary award…Memiors of a geisha did pretty much better(3 oscars to gome with is pretty good)…Tsotsi(thug in english) nabbed the oscar for best foriegn language film and director Gavin Hood gaved the audience and the whole world a great speech(one that gives me a chill):

“God bless Africa. Wow. I have a speech, it’s in my pocket, but that thing says 38 seconds. But mine’s way too long. Go to tsotsi.com and there is a huge long list of people. Because I’m accepting this not for myself. This is for best foreign language film. It is sitting right there to start with. Please stand up Presley Chweneyagae and Terry Pheto. My two fantastic young leads. Put the cameras on them, please. Viva Africa. Viva. I’ve got ten seconds. Ten seconds I just want to thank my fellow nominees who I’ve become deep friends with. We may have foreign language films, but our stories are the sames your stories. They’re about the human heart and emotion. It says please wrap. Thank you so much. Thank you to the Academy. Thank you.”

Its a true winner!(now im getting a dvd of this with the soundtrack cd!).Ang Lee did won for brokeback mountain(best director). It would have been great if they won the best picture though they won the best adapted sceenplay and best score. All i can say is,its a very nice peice of film whatever the controversy is..haha..

Moved by movies.

March 4, 2006

I cant seem to sleep long enough so im doing some words and news(movies) for you.. : )

Updates:

-The next James Bond film(Casino Royale) which stars Daniel Craig(new 007) and recently confirmed leading lady Eva Green(Kingdom of Heaven,The Dreamers!) will also feature A Ford car(they paid $14m dollars to feature thier car) plus a new Aston Martin car(the favorite brand of 007.haha)…The theme song and the artist that will do it is unkown yet.But the talk will include six 0 digits also!haha

-The Oscars will be happening March 5th(march 6th here) so watch out for it.Brokeback Mountain will be the clear winner as i also predicted, technical awards will go to king kong(sound editing, visual effects, etc.) and let’s see my guesses if they are correct!haha.

‘For your consideration’ ad of king kong..

-The new trailer of ‘A scanner darkly’ is online now.Based on the philip k. dick(sci-fi legend) novel and directed by Richard Linklater(A visionary director who directed before sunrise,Waking life and before sunset) and features an all star cast. The movie looks like a better waking life in terms of the cartooned graphics(like the wallpaper graphics of San Andreas the pc game.haha.)..It will be out probably on summer here..Some screen caps that i took from the new preview.

Keanu&Winona in 3d cartoon look..haha

Keanu Again…Nice Background drawings(if they are.)

Robert Downey Jr.

Woody Harrelson.

Winona Ryder.

 Oops!haha..

—————————————————————————————————-

-Lastly,this movie called “Sorstalansag”,Fateless in english is playing now on select theaters in the US.A book written by Imre Kertesz(nobel prize winner for literature)before they made it to film, its another true wwII holocaust story but i just have this fond interest on WWII and events that conspired in that period of time. The plot focuses about a boy named “Gyuri” and how he suffered and lived through the nazi years with his courage and will to survive.Remember Speilberg’s “Empire of the sun”? It’s like it but very much heavier if you know what i mean.I’m aware of Fateless since it was selected in last year’s berlin film festival but i knew it was not for a wide release..It is directed by veteran cinematographer,Lajos Koltai(malena, emperor’s Club, being Julia are some of his works) with the music of the amazing Ennio Morricone(one of my idols in music) and Lisa Gerrard(on chants)..These names are enough for me to be interested in this movie, and besides i always been moved by movies with great musical score and plot..Perhaps i’ll wait for the dvd and order one plus the soundtrack which i believe will be one of the last ones composed by ennio morricone(because he’s 78 already same with john williams at 74)..But i do hope not!hahaha. The new james bond,Daneil Craig is also on this film as a us army sergeant.Im waiting for this one, calling on think film(please release the dvd soon!).hahaha

Bonus:pronounciations of names above if you are interested.haha
Imre Kertesz-Eemre Kerteyz
Lajos Kotlai-Layojch Koltay
Enio Morricone-Enniyo Morrikone

-Adding another one on my cd wishlist this year. The soundtrack of Tsotsi!(A beautiful african film.I hope it wins the best foreign language film at the oscars)..

It’s almost breakfast time.I also have to picture out how to accumulate 50 good photos..Till later!

Posted by indieridley at 5:21 am | permalink | View this entry

Visions…Visions…

Earlier i did some practice shots on a nearby hangout place(as socialites calls it!) and eat  there.hahaha..But i was not there to do the “hangout thing” and im not like that(will never be).So few minutes after 7,i was able to do some interesting shots and i just want to share it to all of you..By the way,i was accepted by a local company as a contributinng artist to thier services..Though i must sum up at least 50 good shots for thier imagebank to be able for the membership to be official..If im successful with this,i might able to get royalty for my shots/photos when someone gets interested with it/print it in high resolution…Before i was accepted i sent 3 sample photos of what i could do as thier requirement..Im glad they liked it!hahaha…Ill update you on this,Time for me to sleep.I have of a lot of succession of thinking to do tommorrow(visions, visions,VISIONS!!)hahaha.

Some of the photos i took earlier.

Summertime! Really hot.

March 1, 2006

It’s summertime!haha..Oh well,I do not have much to say today..Some current tidbits and thoughts though…

Attempted coup(foiled),State of emergency till now..Can’t the opposition see, every f*cking hole they see is has a nail waiting on the other end of it?hahaha.. Cory is still participating in this nonsense “pakikibaka”(because the government is keen on investigating the tarlac incident which happened on the hacienda luisita owned by Cojuanco family..its just politics you know..Common sense politics!).My advice ma’m is relax and enjoy your life you have the capability to do it,not the people whom who are calling to join you in the streets for a cause. In the first place What is the cause?!.To the officials, mind your own business and put  your effort into the machinery of the government not putting the effort to speculate and doing limelights for the media..Edsa 1 will never be the same as the 2nd 3rd or even 4th if they plan to do it!haha..The spirit, morale and situation before is different than now..

Let’s have an insight. If arroyo stepped down, who will lead? Another acting president?Acting as president? or a puppet president?hahaha..The economy is getting stronger now and business all around is doing good because of the current administration..So if the F*cking leftist are wise enough to think, they wouldnt do thier actions..If they want change, better change thier own attitudes first and dont even think that a government or an administration(any) would make our lives good.they are only here to “govern”..So stand up,get a job, help communities,be a part of society..Thats a change..A better country starts with a better you! And that’s what you really call “pakikibaka” in life.hahaha…nothing much to say huh?lol. whew it’s really hot..hahaha

On the other hand,Another apple special event is happening this very moment.Steve Jobs is introducing new mac minis(which features single core/duo core intels) and a speaker box/ipod dock in one for ipods..very hot! The new mac minis retails for $599 & $799(35-45t here) for the single and dual core ones. The ipod sound system dock will cost $349(about in the 20k mark here) which is a great accessory for ipod lovers!haha.

Plus, panasonic and leica joined the 4/3 system of olympus Dslrs..Thier new product called DMC-L1.The great thing with this is the open format they have wherein leica, sigma, plympus, panasonic products within the 4/3 system will be compatible with each other plus i think it is more affordable because they are developing products in a collective way..Another added on my wishlist!! Darn! Im meltling! I want a 4/3 system camera.. : (

Sony is also releasing ultrazoom prosumer cameras later this summer. The H2 and H5.It features 6 & 7.2 mp respectively and a image stabilizing 12x optical zoom carl zeiss lens…Canon on the very other hand(haha) will release the S3 is replacement for thier current s2 is,it will feature a 6mp ccd plus a stablized 12x optical zoom to with canon’s USM(ultrasonic motor) for quiet zooming…These are my interest and choices for another camera!though if i could, ill really have a 4/3 system…sigh..

A hint: I also feel that Fujifilm & Kodak will join the 4/3 system soon..Because Kodak is one of the pioneers concepting the 4/3 system back in 2001 and fujifilm supported it also.so watch out,it will be the digital imaging evolution!

Classic styling but very powerful!
